About Gregory Moore, Esq.
Gregory Moore brings a unique perspective with respect to the intersection of law, technology, and economics in connection with the business of sports. As the fourth full time Commissioner of the 108 year old Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), an NCAA Athletic Conference based in Atlanta, Georgia, Commissioner Moore has served in that capacity for twelve years. During that span Commissioner Moore has quadrupled league revenues, eliminated all conference debt, negotiated corporate and philanthropic partnerships that has attracted millions of dollars to the SIAC, created a reserve fund exceeding seven figures, and added five schools as members of the conference.
A licensed attorney, Commissioner Moore also serves as an advisor or board member to sports tech startups and organizations such as The Doug Williams Center for the Study of Race & Politics in Sports, The First Point Volleyball Foundation which seeks to expand volleyball participation opportunities in the African-American community, and the Fan Controlled Football League (FCF), a $10m venture funded startup interactive football league. In addition, Commissioner Moore has taught Master’s level courses at Georgia State University’s Sports Management Program. Prior to his arrival at the SIAC Commissioner Moore served as General Counsel for the ABA franchise Jersey Express Basketball Club and served as Deputy Counsel with the State Legislature of New Jersey. Commissioner Moore holds a B.A. degree in Political Science from the College of New Jersey, and a law degree from the William Knight School of Law at University of Oregon. He maintains memberships with the District of Columbia Bar, the New Jersey State Bar, and is the author of Searching for Michael Jordan – a book which examines five star high school basketball prospects over a 25-year period and analyzes why certain players realized their potential while others did not.
During his tenure as Commissioner Moore’s achievements include:
- Invited by the New Jersey State Legislature to provide testimony in connection with the New Jersey Fair Play Act (New Jersey’s NIL law).
- Increased revenue 400%.
- First NCAA Conference to sign league-wide “head-to-toe” Nike Agreement (multi-million dollar in-kind transaction value), the largest transaction in history of it kind.
- Negotiated seven-figure six-year ESPN media rights agreement – the largest in NCAA D2 history.
- First NCAA Conference to provide football officiating opportunities to female officiating crew.
- First NCAA Conference to Create Inclusion Partnership with NBA Players Association to increase number of African-American head basketball coaches.
- First NCAA Conference to Create Inclusion Officiating Partnership with NFL to increase the number of African-American officials in the NFL
- Has been featured or interviewed by numerous media outlets including, CBS, CNN, ESPN, Revolt TV, USA Today, NY Times, etc.
